That's what I figured the minute I saw the picture. The last person to do that in a Broadway revival was Matthew Broderick, who was probably a bit old for it at the time.

I think there was already a lot of stuff they had to cut or adjust for that go-round just because it was so horribly dated and sexist, at least by current standards.

Of course it also speaks to the paucity of new ideas that they have to keep doing revivals, especially of material that doesn't really ring true any more. Bye Bye Birdie is another example.

All that said, I think Daniel could be an adorable J. Pierrepont Finch. Any word on who's playing Rosemary?

I actually haven't registered any of the rest of the cast. I think it opens it about February though so there ought to be cast list somewhere!

And I don't know about new musicals, one of the newest out there is Spiderman and given the way they seem to be trying to kill off their cast I think maybe revivals are better!

Though I don't mean that at all. Still at least it's not anotehr Disney one or similar. The next two big musicals in London are going to be Wizard of Oz and Shrek :-/

I know. I'm just being old and cranky. Broadway and West End have always done revivals and it's not like Shakespeare ever goes out of style. I'm not crazy about the Disney adaptations EITHER. Presumably the answer is to "grow up" and write my own brilliant original musical and get it produced. Otherwise I can just shut my yap.

BUT....How to Succeed is still and incredibly dated and sexist show.

oh ewwwww That is rather awful.

I'm still sad I'm missing Dan singing though but that doesn't sounds good for the show.

It'll be interesting to see what they update or omit this time around.
