So on Saturday evening I went to Laughs in the Park the world's first... yeah IDK what was quite so different about it. First outdoor comedy gig ade to seem a bit like a concert?

Anyway it was Eddie Izzard, Reg D Hunter and Dylan Moran in a field and it was very funny but omg FREEZING.

I mean admittedly I'd been out all day and hadn't brought quite enough layers for the evenign but everyone was cold. By halfway through it was cold enough to see your breath in front of you (my glasses fogged up) and no amount of Hot Cider (LIES it was clearly Winter Pimms or similar) or hot food could stop me shivering.

Anyone but Eddie and I'd have gone home after when the second interval started (we REALLY didn't need two intervals of nearly 30 minutes each)

So yes. Unhelpful weather. But three very funny comedians so if it ahd been just a smidgeon warmer I'd probably be declaring the whole thing HUGELY successful.

Eddie came on first and did a little bit followed by Dylan Moran who I've never seen live (though I've seen some of his stand up on TV) and he was actually even better than I was expecting. IDK. I liked his jokes about getting older and being a parent and such like. In fact for me I think he was the best bit of the evening (I could still feel my feet).

Then after interval number one Eddie came back out for a few more minutes before introducing Reg D Hunter. Now I love Reg and find him VERY funny but I saw his Tour a few months ago and so almost everything he did was familiar. I had found it very funny the first time round if that helps!

The after interval two (by which point I was actually shaking) Eddie came back and did his set proper. Some of it was old material, a bunch of Noahs Ark stuff that's been developed since last time I heard it and also Hannibal coming over the Alps and stuff on Latin as a language... Mind you it was still pretty funny even second or third time round and he threw in just enough local gags and references to endear him to the crowd. IDK wasn't his best show but it's Eddie

Then right at the end we got fireworks which were terribly pretty and then we almost literally ran for the exit and home.

It took me an hour to warm up enough to be able to get changed for bed and then I had to wrap myself in about 5 layers PLUS duvet :-/ I was very nearly warm by the time I woke up on Sunday :P

cold, comedy
