Happy Holidays! And shows update...
Happy Holidays to those who celebrate! The holiday season is fun for me even though I don't really celebrate much...but it's still a nice time of year :)
I spent December catching up on shows, since everything's on hiatus.
I just started watching Mad Men after hearing everyone (i.e. tv critics whose blogs I read for other shows) raving for years about it...and, yeah, it's a good show. It's compelling, to say the least. I'm easy to please, and I think there's something to be said for the entertainment quality of more mindless shows, but I can appreciate Mad Men for what it is. The writing, at the very least, is amazing, and the acting is as well. But I enjoy it. The main draw for me with any TV show is the characters...if I can feel for/with them, then I enjoy the show. And Mad Men does that. I started off the show hating Peggy AND Pete, who have somehow become my favorite characters over the seasons. Huh. Don is fascinating as hell, but I really can't decide if I like him or not. Ditto on Betty - she definitely gets worse over the seasons, but I can't full-fledgedly hate her just yet.
Anyway, it's a compelling show. It's been on hiatus for over a year now, which sucks, but it's supposed to come back in March, which works out for me I suppose.
I recently gave up Terra Nova and Person of Interest. Neither one could really hook me. I was watching POI mainly for Michael Emerson, but...the premise really didn't intrigue me. I also gave TN a chance mostly because it did look interesting, but it really...wasn't, so I gave up on that one. I don't really love any other new shows...Ringer I'm giving up after Misha Collins' appearance on it, and Pan Am is okay, nothing amazing though. I do love Once Upon a Time, though, for now.
I'm still feeling a bit frustrated with Supernatural. I'm rewatching all the S7 eps in hopes of gaining some perspective on it, but right now...meh. We'll see what happens next year though. I'm still holding out hope.
