Out with the old, In with the new:

changed the family photo icon this afternoon. I really liked the old picture too so I just had to pay tribute to it.

It is interesting to see how much our squirt has changed over the last year. The whole family has changed at that.

My new endeavor is learning to coupon better than I have in the past. Wish me luck.

Also, tonight Mike is going to babysit for me while I try my hand at Scrapbooking at a neighbors home. I'll post pictures if it turns out worth of showing. I've been meaning to get into Scrapbooking but I've not done it. I've been more interested in card making instead. But I got a few great ideas for decorating in the living room. I bought some fake trees and that sort of sparked it, well, that and seeing some frame things. I don't have a ton of photos of the family up on the wall in the living room except for the big one over our media center. (Which also needs to be updated!) In the past we've had wedding photos up in the living room. But I've moved the wedding things and the stuff of just Mike and I into our bedroom because, that's our room and I figured stuff tributed to just us should just be in there. So I've been meaning to put photos on the wall in the living room.

When we first moved into our home, we had cable and I watched all those interior design shows from Discovery, HGTV, and DIY networks... which has gotten me thinking more outside of the box than what I had thought about in living spaces before. (Which for me is kinda silly that I didn't think of that stuff before, being as creative as I am. Could just be that I was focusing on other things at the time and being in an apartment there is only SO much that you can do to make it yours anyhow.) So I've gradually been expanding in the interior department. When it comes to photos in my living room though, I've wanted to do something unique that displays my interests and talents but with our family photos and not necessarily my actual artwork. (I'd rather display that in my office where I work creatively so I can see it around me.) For the family spaces, I want family photos around.

I think I've found what I may like. I have noticed a growing interest over the past year in displaying scrapbooking pages on walls which combines the idea of photography, family photos, memory making, and creativity into a gallery type format. But in your home. I've seen several kinds of frames, with space to display your scrapbooking pages on your wall. They have window like frames, some with plenty of space for embellishments, and some that have little space for anything but layered paper, but in a variety of sizes. Anyhow, that is the route that I have been thinking that would look great with the decor at least in the living room. And it is something that can be changed out as our little family grows, or added to for the same reason.

I like that flexiblity and I like that I can match it to the decor in that room or any other room in the house too. And what an idea as you can see at this post, there are all kinds of types of scrapbookers. I'm excited for tonight, I'll have to try my hand in scrapbooking on a small level and see where it leads.

memory making, updates
