I started a meme the other day where you start up your mp3 player, and write a drabble for whatever song comes up. Thing is, you only have the length of the song to write it then you have to stop. I, apparently, am incapable of doing this. I was constantly cheating, and going back to tweak things on the ones I had written. So, I never finished within the time frame. You're supposed to do 10, but I only finished 4. I really like them though, so I decided to post them anyway!
Drabble 1
More Than Anyone - Gavin DeGray
You need a friend, I'll be around. Don't let this end before I see you again. What can I say to convince you to change your mind? I'm gonna love you more than anyone...
Simon kicked the gravel underneath his feet. He had never felt so angry and upset before. How exactly could it be that Clary was his girlfriend but the kiss she most desired was from her brother? It was disgusting, and ridiculous, and unfair. Had he not been there for her since she was 5 years old? Had he not always stood by her? Had he not stayed with her during the craziness they had gone through in the past few weeks? Had he not loved her?
Obviously it wasn't enough. Maybe he wasn't enough. Maybe it didn't matter that he had put his heart on the line, at the risk of ruining the best friendship he had ever had. Maybe Jace would always be there, between them. Maybe...he wasn't going to be satisfied with being second-best anymore.
Without realizing it, Simon's feet changed direction, towards the dilapidated hotel that was calling to him...

Did You - Hoobastank
Did you say everything you could? Do the things you thought you would? Did it ever occur to you that this could be your final day?
Jace couldn't sleep. He knew that he had come to Clary simply asking to spend one night with her, but he knew that there was no way he could waste this time sleeping. Not when it could easily be his last night with her.
Instead, he was content to watch her sleep. She was on her back, turned slightly to face him. The faint light from the window fell on her face, leaving half in shadow. He watched, mesmerized. Her eyelashes were dark, and stood out in contrast to her pale skin. Her red curls were fanned out behind her head on the pillow, looking wilder than ever. Some of it had fallen in her face and was moving in time with the breath coming from her slightly open mouth. Jace lifted a finger and softly traced the outline of her lips, remembering what it was like to feel them underneath his own.
"Beautiful", he breathed. Knowing that he might never see her again, knowing what he planned to do in the next few hours, Jace slowly bent his head and grazed her lips with his own - barely so not to wake her. Then, he carefully eased himself from the bed, not letting go of her fingers until the last second, and slipped out the window.

The little things give you away - linkin park
Water gray through the windows up the stairs chilling me like an ocean everywhere. Don't wanna reach for me do you? I mean nothing to you. The little things give you away.
Simon knew.
He knew that Clary didn't love him the way that he loved her. It was obvious, even when she was hugging him, kissing him; it was like there was some part of her holding back.
Waiting for something.
Or someone, he thought bitterly.
He watched her from across the table. She was sitting next to Jace with her eyes closed. Probably exhausted, he thought. But even then, her body was shifted slightly to face him, her hands on the table, only an inch away from his. She reminded Simon of a flower, always searching for the sunlight.
It was the little things that gave her away.
Drabble 4
Only Human - Jason Mraz
made of flesh, made of sand, made of human...
Mundane. Jace hated the word, felt disdain for the people it represented. He knew that killing demons was his job so that he could protect them, but that was hardly the reason he did it. He enjoyed the kill, enjoyed the fighting. No, it wasn't to protect these humans who had no idea they were in danger in the first place.
As the group of them walked down the street, Jace glanced at Simon. Simon held Clary's hand tightly in his own, keeping her close to him. As if he were protecting her from all the dangers in the world.
Pfft. As if that Mundane had the ability to protect her, Jace thought. He barely had enough brains to protect himself, much less Clary. He was only human after all.
Human. Jace sneered and quickened his pace so he couldn't see them and walked on in the dark night.
