It was an accident

A couple of days ago I got to once again demonstrate that I do know how to drive.
I was coming home from the Ren Faire, it was overcast and very dark, just after sunset. I was coming up the road and had just passed the golf course, heading toward I-70 at about 40mph. A song came on I've been wondering the name of so I glanced at the radio, and then back up. That is when the deer stepped into my headlights. I swerved into the oncoming lane so that I'd pass behind the stupid thing, only to realize she had a friend following her. That's when I yelled "Crap!", down shifted, braked, and swerved back toward my side of the road.
I got the car down to around 10mph, and threaded the needle between the two beast, or so I thought. I got an interesting view of a very scared deer's face as it tried to finish stopping before T-boning my car, plowing into it at the B-pillar (That is the one 'tween the front and back doors). No damage done, just a collection of deer hair in one of the plastic panels over the back wheel. I even watched in the mirror as the deer got up and ran off the road... the opposite direction of it's friend. Quite happy to see it run off as I didn't want to have to figure out how to put a deer out of it's misery with just a pocket knife, a floor mat, and whatever is beside the road.

Once I got a chance to re-run it through my brain I was happy. I didn't skid, never felt that I didn't have it under control, and other then being upset that my new car was damaged (It wasn't but I hadn't had a chance to look yet) was quickly back to thinking "What the hell, no one died and that's what matters".
