Urquhart on the Disc

Oct 27, 2010 19:43

Through the door a cluster of farmers are arguing and waiting for Moist to emerge.

One of them calls out, "We've got you now, Watson!"

Moist gestures to the left and the large stable of the inn.

Urquhart follows him, slipping quietly through the shadows, crossbow at the ready.

When they step through the farmers start to try and hem them in and Moist gives them a smirk,

"Sorry to disappoint you gentlemen, but I've got places to go."

Then he moves into the shadows of the inn so that the farmers with their pitchforks are met with Urquhart.

"Surprise!" Urquhart says, and shoots the foremost farmer through his shoe, at the tip of his boot, nailing him to the ground and making him stumble with his pitchfork without even hurting him.

"Any more?" he says, smoothly reloading within seconds, ready to shoot again.

The other two farmers start to back away and one says,

"No, no, you can have him."

"Thank you," Urquhart says, almost sweetly. "I'll be taking him away then."

"This way,"

Moist calls out from where he is in the stables with two horses all saddled up and a grin.

He loves the feel of a good horse under him and the wonder of what else will come down the road next. Having Urquhart here's just a rather wonderful bonus.

Urquhart takes the larger of the two horses, briefly introduces himself, and gets on without ever letting go of the crossbow in his right hand.

"Lead the way!"

The farmers try to get out of the way as Moist gallops forward, the main street turns into the main road and he heads out of town.

He's a good rider and both horses are fast since Moist is a very good judge of horseflesh.

"This was remarkably unbloody!" Urquhart calls out as they are leaving the village behind. "Where now?"

"I do my best to stay unbloodied,"

Moist says with a laugh, "Down the road."

The view isn't anything terribly special just a lot of cabbages and straight road.

"Whoever is going to eat all that cabbage?" Urquhart asks, riding beside Moist. "Just imagine the remarkable amount or used air people will emit!"

"It gets turned into some of the most awful things to eat,"

Once they've gone through one crossroad, Moist slows down to a canter and nods to the few passing drovers.

Urquhart is given worried looks from many people, he has a dangerous look about him.

He does, and he relies on that effect to keep curious or pesky people away. He can look harmless if he wants to, or melt into nothingness.

But he doesn't want to, now.

"I'll be careful what I eat, then."

"I'll make sure that you don't have to anymore cabbage than you really want to. Though it does make a good profit for those who grow it, this is fertile land and fairly safe,"

Compared to Uberwald, its rather nice and Moist takes another turning at the next crossroad, they're not too far from Quirm, which will hide them well.

"It's getting a bit busier," Urquhart says, "is there a city nearby?"

"Yes, Quirm, its one of the larger ones on the plains and has a pretty floral clock along with a well known school for young ladies. I thought we might be able to find some things to keep us occupied there."
