On the way back from class tonight, some girl gave me the Phenomenaut salute. And I wasn't even wearing my Phenomenauts shirt!
That was a blatant lie. About the shirt, not the salute. It was pretty cool.
Almost as cool as how, when I was downtown a few nights ago, two people recognized my Rocket From The Crypt shirt. What?! In the three years of owning that thing, no one besides my drum teacher has even recognized the name of the band. I was getting pizza, minding my own business, and the guy working the oven started talking about Swami with me. Pretty rad.
Band shirts are an awesome novelty. Awesome? Yes? A novelty? Totally. I could argue about the integrity of mass producing these as a sort of franchise-related product, directed towards kids who want to look like they fit in with a certain group, but that doesn't really bother me that much. I justify buying into these things because I only buy shirts from bands at shows. Then again, that's just my justification. I actually don't know why I'm rambling on about something as inane as this.
Point being, sometimes connecting to random people by drawing attention to yourself can be a good thing.
Now it's time to snag food with some kids, and then check out the new Pushing Daisies. I'm jazzed.
