So here’s to new beginnings
To champagne and to fear
To New Year’s resolutions
That won’t last half the year

Here’s to love and sacrifice
That threaten to go under
Relationships and new-born hope
That still last through the thunder

Here’s to false beginnings
That test the waters here
Promising to topple over
If ever ventured near

Here’s to April fools
Followed by the showers
And seed we planted yesteryear
In hope they’d bring new flowers

Here’s to spring’s awakening
And warmer windy days
Here’s to flying kites
In some new-fangled ways

Here’s the things unthought of
For now we’re halfway through
The things we daren’t dream of now
In this year will come true

Here’s to our America
The one we thought was lost
And putting back the pieces
No matter what the cost

Here’s to summer’s ending
To books still being read
To summer’s final sunsets
Laying down their head

Here’s to opportunity
It’s taken or it’s missed
Falling leaves their beauty see
And leave out all the rest

Here’s to night they’re lengthening
To layers and to warmth
To breathing in the cool clear air
Before it freezes solid

Here’s to giving thanks
To family and cheer
The biting cold that’s soon to be
That wont be coming here

Here’s the all the memories
That we will now hold dear
And here’s the saying maybe things
Will go our way next year
