Edge of the Bayou [Thursday, Night]
As night fell, Jacob was out at the edge of town, phased and bounding between the trees.
Normally, he muffled the thoughts of the other Pack members, pushed the group psyche to the back of his mind. Sam liked to be able to keep track of him, but had never tried anything more than that.
Today was different, Sam had evidently been waiting for this opportunity. His brisk, 'We need you' cut through everything else in Jacob's head. Ignoring a command from his alpha was unthinkable, even from this distance, and it didn't take him more than a second to make his decision.
He stretched up, letting out a deep answering howl before he bolted. It would take him enough time as it was, he shouldn't waste any more.
