He sidles quietly to her, waiting until she's set the plates on the table before he's cleared his throat. She jumps. “You startled me,” she breathlessly says before turning back to the fire to poke at it. “Sit down, sit down!” She scolds when she turns back to him. “You'll ruin your dinner if you don't sit!”
He doesn't move, his paws behind his back. “You se---”
“I see you well enough!” She bustles to her seat and stares when he continues to stand. “Sit down!”
He sighs almost audibly and steps toward her. “Will you just hush?” He asks and her mouth closes. “I'd like to give you this,” he offers and brings his paws from behind his back.
She gasps, reaches toward it then stops. “Is this,” she asks quietly, “why you've been sneaking to Badger's?”
“He has no idea of it.”
“Oh, Beaver.” She chokingly whispers. “All the bad I thought you were up to with Badger.”
