Cool mist curls around his ankles; blue eyes study the trees, the long grass. He glances to his former Padawan, who silently shakes his head when he catches the look.
No trouble.
He looks forward again, knowing Anakin will watch the rear.
This isn’t a military action that will make HoloNet headlines; no one will report it, show images of the clones quietly lifting their dead from the field after dark and carrying them onto a nearby hidden transport. This isn’t news to them and, if he were to be honest, he is relieved it isn’t news to them.
The last body is safely stowed on board the transport and he stands, gesturing to Anakin; time to go. He jogs down to the transport and ducks under the camouflage netting they’d used to conceal their presence.
He casts one last look over the battlefield as they lift into the air before they vanish behind a cloud and meet the Republic ships hovering above the planet.
