When I heard at AC that tangowildheart was going to try to lose 100 lbs before next year's convention, I got to thinking about my own weight loss and went back through my old pictures to see just how far I'd come.

Well, that's all we had available at the time. :)

Eyeglasses follow fashion trends as much as anything else. You need to buy what's on the racks at the optician's, and large-framed eyeglasses were popular until the late nineties. What I was wearing in the top picture was the style at the time - just as we don't wear horn-rimmed glasses anymore like they did in the sixties, but those were stylish back then because consumer plastics were new and futuristic. Then again, large plastic frames are now back in style. Go figure!

I've had 5 or 6 different frames since that picture was taken. My prescription changes frequently.

The trend towards very small lenses has gone too far, in my opinion. I tried wearing very small, stylish glasses and had to take them back; they were impossible to read with and required me to move my head all over the place to see anything that wasn't right in front of my eyes, including books, computer keyboards, car speedometers, etc. Since my eyes can move on their own, it seems silly to make lenses so small that looking down falls totally outside the perimeter of the lens.

Anyway, that's enough about my eyeglass rant. :-) I've worn glasses for 25 years and am frustrated that I can't get a decent set of frames right now. (To say nothing of frames that are made in China for 25 cents are selling for $200.) I'm probably going to start buying glasses online.

Also, I'm kind of amused you commented on my glasses, of all things! You'd think there'd be something more obvious to mention. :-)
