so maybe I can't spell the names of biblical spices, but I can speak mediocre spanish, and tonight my mediocre spanish was important. I've recently started working for womencare, a domestic violence shelter in bellingham, as a child advocate. this means my primary responsibility is hanging out with kids and their moms and facilitating the children's art group (!!!). I'm still very much the newbie and have just been dipping my toes into more serious roles. but tonight, the interpreter wasn't available, and I got to translate. quite a simple thing ended up huge for getting this woman and her three (adorable) children out of an abusive situation and into a safe house... I Love this job.
then I come home, all hyped-up, to a quiet house. my cat is in his normal oval-shape on my bed. my grandmother has sent a chain e-mail about a little boy who solicits god's help to write a letter to his mom from the afterlife; it's tag line is "let's stop Satan with this one!"
my father made a gingerbread eiffel tour that is three feet tall.
I am having a glass of reisling and going to bed.
such is life at 21.
