So last night before bed I'm reading a psychology magazine and it presents a new theory of 'dreams'. Essentially the theory says that we use dreams to "practice" for dangerous scenarios that might occur in the real world. This seems intuitively correct to me, and the fact that some 70% of dreams are nightmares (or so the article said) would seem to reinforce that.
The only dream I can remember from last night involved a customer at a deli asking for coleslaw. The clerk said "which kind?", indicating two choices. And the customer replied "whichever", causing a brief moment of terror in the clerk's eyes. He doesn't want to give the customer a poor recommendation, after all. So he nervously says "this one?", and points to one of the containers. The customer shrugs and says "sure".
The moral of the story? I guess my life can't be too bad when my biggest fear apparently involves coleslaw.
