Fic rec: Green and Gold
Okay, all caught up on Pie's Once Upon a Time/Thor fic, Green and Gold. I've been internally squeeing for nearly thirty minutes. This story is fucking epic. Seamless blend of mythology, traditional tales (Kipling and Hans Christian Andersen ftw!), the TV series, and the Marvel movie.
Although this is a WIP, I highly recommend it. Nay, I order you all to read it. Picture if you will Balder interrupted in a quest by wise Bagheera and in turn fighting the Curse that overthrew the magical land. Picture a trickster god with his memories removed and placed in Storybrooke by a scheming imp. Picture the Lady Sif, the Warriors Three, and Thor searching across realms for the stolen-away brother. Picture young Henry puzzled by the appearance of someone who isn't in his book of fairy tales and seeking answers even as Regina turns her terrible focus on the same person, this mysterious librarian.
The tale moves and flows with the same storytelling beauty as the show and presents intrigues and charms also equal to the show. If you like anyone, any character at all, from either Once Upon a Time or Thor, please go give it a read. It will enchant you.
