Watching Season 1 of Supernatural:

After the second murder in Skin my dad (who wanders apparently against his own will into the room every time I've got Supernatural on) announced, “It’s a doppelganger demon!” He looked so proud of himself, crossing his arms with a cocky jaunt to his head. He thinks everything is either a ghost or a demon. It’s super adorable. Controlling my giggles, I explained that doppelgangers and demons are two separate monsters and he briefly looked crestfallen before gathering himself up, “Still a doppelganger.” So. Cute.

The new guy I’m introducing SPN to is a friend’s son who caught a few episodes with his dad, but said father wouldn’t start back over so the guy could catch up. I volunteered my DVDs and couch and so far we’re about half through the season (we skipped Bugs. I told him if he wanted to watch it on his own time, that’s great, but I’m not going to sit through it again). Today we watched Home and near the end of the episode, he turned to me and said, “I’m about to cry. This episode is terrible. It’s so sad!” He took Home much harder than I did the first time I saw it, and then he absolutely dissolved when John was revealed at the end. He was howling at the screen. “Why didn’t you see them? Why didn’t you at least say hi to Dean? He called you; he was crying! ARGH, I don’t like you. Sarah, I don’t like their dad.” I wasn’t much help, being a pile of giggles as my friend just lost it.

Successfully hooked my friend, his wife, and their son. Booyah! Dad…he’s more open to the show than Mom but he totally grossed out when Shifter!Dean was, ahem, ripping off his skin and fingernails and teeth. He’ll come around.

supernatural, superfans, i love my crazy family
