The surgery went "well."
That's what I was told by the nurse that set me in a recovery chair with a warmed blankie! I have to tell you these toasty blankets are wonderful! They make yah drink and eat crackers then go pee! Peeing was not a problem. The hand where the IV went in is grotesque, it's all bruised and puffy.... matches the upper arm where they took blood last week. We did manage to get them to hear us about pre-medicating with antibiotics cuz of the neck hardware. They gave us the wonderful medication that keeps us from projectile PUKING afterwards. Nice! We took a few puffs of Abeutroal for good measure, but the rattle had vanished.
While hooked up to the monitors we got to play with our heart rate and breathing. We've verified now, we normally breath exceptionally shallow. Terri was geeking out on this one with us. Really it was keeping Ren focused away from the IV which was fabulous.
We slept thru surgery! Sleep!
First winks we've had in 3 days. Had about an hour at home but with weird angry dreams about JQ trying to get D & Ax (ours & H's teen kids) to smoke. Have no idea where that came from. Came out of that one angry tho.
I guess, when we surfaced from the drugs, someone here asked our doctor if they were "going to do the operation now." It was already over. Weren't me so no idea. The doctor thought this was hilarious tho, so this is what Terri got as a surgery update.
I remember Ren being wheeled from the prep room and nothing else. There was a cacophony going on in our head. What with MarthJane and R being all about death and dying, next to Nikie and Hank holding on to Ren trying to tell the kid she was going to sleep and wouldn't feel anything. Have no idea if any of that went verbal outside. I'm glad the doctor gave us the option of being under general, this would have really sucked under a local, WAY too many triggers!
Love this new drug they give you! It makes you forget everything!
Before someone would stay awake thru all this shit. It was hideous. Life without knowing the scary stuff, it's a beautiful thing. Now NO one here (not mentioning names) can use it to press repeat.
TMI below.... beware....
Last night I prepped by giving the gal a nice close shave. I saw them shave her when we almost had to have a cesarean for the first son. Oh no! I like our Pearl, there's no way I was trusting that to some stranger! ALL the piercings were removed.
It hurts like hell, but Vicadin and Rummed cherries are helping. Not much bleeding. NO TAMPONS, have to wear a pad... YUCK, GROSS, Diapers! No bathing (we don't do that anyway, shower at all times), no pools (this cramps the weekend), no intercourse (hmmm... apparently fisting is out... which right now does not in anyway appeal) ALL this for 2-3 weeks.
