ISRAEL IS A GO

Our son left just a week ago today, he's in Israel starting a new life. It is hard to think of him so far away, the Moms are frantic most of the time, but really we're not against this move on any logical level. Yeah it's this whole political crap unfortunately in the middle of his wanting to use his "Right of Return."

He loves it there, has since first time he went. If he doesn't get into IDF he'll be back in 6 months, if he goes into IDF as just noncitizen volunteer it'll be almost 2 years, if he makes Ayliah (R of R & becomes citizen) he plans to stay and not come back but to visit after Army for 3 years.

Sorry to hear you also had can of worms day, they suck. You've had a rough time with school and such lot to deal with and therapy opening old wounds. I'm "setting" with the feelings and memories, not something I'm used to doing.

All the political crap around "are you Jewish enough" drives me bugfuck. My sister's children have a Jewish father. If the Orthodox have their way, neither my niece nor my nephew would be considered Jewish or allowed to emigrate to Israel. It pisses me off, because you know for fucking sure that if people are going to discriminate/hate/kill Jewish people, M and J are going to be included in that group.

We spent two weeks in Israel earlier this year, touring with a Conservative Synagogue group from MD. It was an incredible trip and I loved it. My sister and I have plans to go back and to bring the kids next time. I wish your son all the best of luck. Israel is a wonderful country.

Yep for sure. My kid put up with being bullied around being Jewish his whole childhood, if they say not a Jew it will really be a slap in the face yet again!

Thanks Gal!

I know you know! Only too well you know and it hurts in the soul. The world can be such a hot mess.
