Disclaimer: I’m just borrowing them for a spin, not mine.
The warmth from fire slowly makes its way through my wet clothes once again soaked by the damn sprinkler system and chase away some of the coldness, if only my heart could be warmed so easy and painlessly.
I reach into my jacket and pull out her note and look down at her words “I’m not coming back. You need to choose.” my eyes wanders between the happy parents holding their child and my team, one of them I can’t have and no matter how I choose I will lose something.
How could I ever allow myself to start slipping? I began to believe in happy ending with a white picket fence and children roaming the backyard something I never thought about or wanted until I met Jeanne.
Do I love her? I know I did when I said the words to her, but how much of that love was a part of the dream for someone to share my future with. She is ironically my longest lasting relationship but it was all based on a lie and she will never be able to trust me again.
Finally I place Jeanne’s letter into the fire and watch as the flames begins to consume the paper erasing her words for forever. I have made my choice, someday I want the happy family but that day is not today and the woman won’t be Jeanne at the moment my place is with my team there isn’t really any other choice.
