. . .is they're not like us! So I've been watching the History channel series The Universe (a very good series (regardless of what I say here)) and I was watching their inner-planets episode and I found it odd that they said life could not exist on Venus(because of teh toxic atmosphere). And in a way they're right, because sure as hell we couldn't. But they seemed to assume that aliens are like us in what they can and cannot stand. WHICH IS SO NOT TRUE! If there's anything Doctor Who has taught me it's that aliens might sometimes look like us but that doesn't mean they can't do things we can't do. . .OK rant over.
Unmasqued (yes I spelt that right) by Colette Gale is every Phantom of the Opera's fangirl dream come true (or at least most of them). In which there is much sex In which is a dark secret, and a story much better than anything anyone else has come up with on the subject. 99 pomegranate seeds.
Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt is a fairy tale with a twist. Magic spells, English villages, stories, the plague, and a dash of true love. Keturah is a beautiful story about a girl unwilling to die. 100 pomegranate seeds.
The Alchemyst by Michael Scott is brilliant! It's the story of twins suddenly swept up in the strange world of magic and those who use it. Sophie and Josh were normal fifteen year olds until a strange man attacked the bookshop that Josh worked at.Soon after the attack Nick Flemming, the owner of the shop reveals himself to be Nicholas Flamel, the alchemist who discovered the secret to eternal life. . . Great writing and well paced 98 pomegranate seeds
