Was delighted by ducklings. I have a couple of the expansions, they're worth it- more families.

Lilly's were a misprint; only two families! Each twice. I should urge her to contact the publisher.

Did you know that the guy who invented this game was the one who also created Eberron? He had a livejournal for a while and I read it - you should find him and demand your money back!

Yeah, I did, I recognized the name. Who wants their money back, I would want a replacement!

I meant for the eberron books...

Oh, why? I like Eberron. Quite a bit, actually. I think it is a good "post-DnD" setting. & a good "pre-Spelljammer" setting, too.

As in, it makes a really good "oh, if this is after the DnD wizards war WWII, lets have the DnD space race!"

Nah, there's likeable things in that game, for sure, and I liked some of the weird conventions in the living game setting. There were those factions that played out a little, I'm told, like the clans in Vampire. And truly, a better setting than FR or Greyhawk in every respect - but still just too of the 3.x mode to be fun in the longer term.

I mean, plus there are Warforged, & that is neat. Also, orcs are people.

Bah, I don't want Orcs to be people. I don't want elfs or dwarfs or anyone besides people to be people. 3.x again - stat bumps and rules-advantages and nothing more to them.

I think there is a third way-- I wrote a post for Tor.com about Neanderthals but it isn't up. I think there is "non-human person."

Curious to see it, but wary of the comments over there.

I feel like - there is an essential post that you'll have to attempt about Alignment, and I foresee that the world's foundations will shake with the acrimony it creates.

Do you ever go on Internet? The comments on Tor.com are like...a brazillion billionzillion times better than like...every other part of the internet. Most places that comments section would have just been smears with feces & racist slurs. Look at Gothamist one day, for instance!

I don't care about what happens to/in new york so I don't look at that. Cleveland.com has a pretty gross commenting culture but no - generally I do not read comments and I consider it a personal favor to you that I comment to the commentors on your tor.com stuff.

Commenting to the internet is... Come on man, write your own posts. Comments are just a way of making the internet dirty by a million acts of laziness.

I think they have their place, but I obviously prize creation culture above remix culture or commenting culture.
