I'm in a musical mood, so have a music post! Unlike the last one, this one will be more pop/rock orientated and possibly larger.
I'm also formatting it differently. I'll be posting the language, genre, and year released as well as the artist and song title this time. :)
Domoto Koichi - Bad Desire | Japanese | Pop | 2010

THE PRINCE IS BACK!!!! I was so excited for his new album since Mirror was released back in 2006. In some ways I like Mirror more than BPM, but both albums are fantastic. This song and video give me epic Lady GaGa vibes and that is awesome. And totally unrelated, but can I say that I'm really jealous that he's 31 and doesn't look a day past 20?
Muse - MK Ultra | English | Alternative | 2009

This is my favorite song off of The Resistance. I can't really pinpoint the exact reason that I love this song, but it was definitely one of those songs that was instant love. A friend of mine has been trying to get me into Muse for years and all it took was Stockholm Syndrome, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Uprising, and MK Ultra to get me hooked.
Goya - Mój | Polish | Pop | 2005

Polish is such a beautiful language. I've always been of the belief that music is a universal thing and that one doesn't need to understand the language to be able to appreciate the music and this is definitely an example of that. I have no idea what is being sung, but the composition is great and the vocalist's voice is very soothing.
Savage Garden - Crash and Burn | English | Pop | 1999

Savage Garden. ♥ I remember my 7-year-old self getting so excited whenever one of their videos was played on MTV back in the 90s. They're actually one of the few artists I liked in the 90s that I still like. I find it funny that I vastly prefer their self titled album to Affirmation and yet Crash and Burn has always been my favorite song of theirs.
BIGBANG - BEAUTIFUL HANGOVER | Japanese | Pop | 2010

"1, 2, 3, to the 4-sho" is quite possibly the most awesome lyric ever. And I wish I knew what the title of this song meant because a hangover is never a beautiful thing. Anyway, I'd be lying if I said I ever watched a BIGBANG video for any reason other than to stare at T.O.P. and I'm laughing at the fact that the preview image is of him. JUSTICE! Sadly enough, this is really the only Japanese song they've done that I like. Gara Gara GO!! was okay, but other than that, bleh.
SS501 - WASTELAND | Korean | Pop | 2009

Break-up song alert! I prefer break-up songs that focus more on the desperate clinging to a love that's already gone, like this one, far more than the ones that have a message of "I'm better off without you." I'm amazed at how much the backing music for the chorus feels as though it doesn't fit and yet it still works surprisingly well.
school food punishment - you may crawl | Japanese | Rock | 2007

I feel as though Japanese rock music as a whole has a bad reputation because most of what people take notice of outside of Japan are the visual bands. It's like "Japanese rock" and "visual kei" are interchangeable terms now and it really saddens me because there are so many amazing Japanese rock bands out there. That said, I'm very fond of school food punishment. They have a unique sound that really stands out.
Owl City - Umbrella Beach | English | Electronic | 2009

I bought Ocean Eyes after it was recommended by a friend. It's a very...interesting album? Not bad at all though. Vanilla Twilight aside, this is my favorite song from the album. It sounds so bubbly and I just can't help but move along with the beat~
Snow Patrol - Days Without Paracetamol | English | Alternative | 1998

I'm not even going to get involved in the whole old vs new Snow Patrol argument because the whole thing is just silly. I, myself, enjoy both old and new Snow Patrol and don't really prefer one sound over another. Needless to say, this is my third favorite Snow Patrol song. It's third only to The Lightning Strike and Somewhere a Clock is Ticking. My fondness of this song definitely lies within the bass and drum parts.
Coldplay - Talk | English | Alternative | 2005

No pop/rock music post from me is complete without some Coldplay. I find it very amusing that while Clocks and Talk are undoubtedly my favorite Coldplay songs, Viva la Vida is still my favorite Coldplay album. I don't get it. Anyway, I really don't think Coldplay needs an explanation.
The Killers - All These Things That I've Done | English | Alternative | 2004

The Killers; adding to the list of groups I like the debut album from and then they go to shit. I bought Hot Fuss back when it was first released and liked it quite a bit, but it wasn't something that held my long-term interest. I actually just randomly listened to a song from it a few months back and found it's actually still quite nice. Their newer music, however, is just ick. I don't know, but I can't get into it. I didn't like this song at all back when I first got the album, but nowadays it's one of my favorites off the album. Man, my taste sure has changed over the years.
Radiohead - Idioteque | English | Alternative/Electronic | 2000

I don't care what anyone says, Kid A is the best Radiohead album in my humble opinion. Radiohead is very much a hit-and-miss band with me, but when they're good, they're good. Idioteque has long been my favorite song by them and even now I never tire of it.
I'm ending this post at that. If I don't stop now it's going to get more out of hand than it already has. D8
