i've got something playing on my mind, and it is seaking clarification. so the plan is to try and write my thoughts here, and clarify as i go, so be prepared for a rant.
ok, so first and foremostly, what is up with stereotypes lately? maybe stereotypes isnt the term i am after, but there just seems to be such blurring of the lines between certain, i guess you could say social group. now i totally disreguard stereotyping, and go on a person by person base, but in the broad generalisations even, the defining lines are disolving away. ive been surfing all over lj the last week or so, and i have come across many varied groups of people. but it seems finally, people are becoming less pigeon holed, and its ok the by goth and love christina aguleria music and spout shakespeare quotes while playing the latest gaming console. and thats just fine, because that who you are. i might not like christina aguleria, and will prolly say so too, but im gonna accept you anyway. its about friggin time the rest of the world caught up. i'm most pleased.
not that i dont have faith in my fellow man, but as a generalisation, people suck, so its nice to realise such an affirmation of decent human behaviour, on a larger scale.
now i know that it is largely due to my generation, and even now the next generation being exposed to a much more diverse world around us, and tolerance levels being lifted as a result. just think where the world will be once the same approach is taken, in a stronger way than it already is, to religious differances. the ongoing northern ireland dispute might actually end. terrorism of a religious nature (and most of it is) would die out. the world would become so much more harmonious. wow.
oh, and as for terrorism of a religious nature, what the fuck is wrong with those people?!? i swear not much pisses me off more than misinterpretation on religious to suit your needs, even if it is in a bid to do the right thing. prime example. i get stopped in the street by a guy trying to convert me to christianity. i was raised with it. my beliefs are based on it. i get it. he was cool with this, then went on to ask if i tried to convert people too. so i told him i make my beliefs know, and try to encourage people to take them on, but thats it. well he didnt like this, ad went on to say i have to tell people they will be smote down and suffer for all damnation. well it's prolly gonna happen, but really, do you think god wants people going to church and pretending to be good christians cause they were bullied into it. not fucking likely. now im no religious leader, but as i see it, in any religion,it is a case of a person coming to the realisation that this is what they need in their life, and want to commit themselves to that system of beliefs. you can go to church/synagog, pray to ala(sp?), do a billion hail marry's, perform umpteen ritual sacrifices, but until you accept and believe it in your heart and make that commitment, you aint going to heaven or some such equivelant. anyway, back to religious extremists...read the whole friggin thing dumbfucks, not just a few passages that work for you, and then try and make a sensible, informed decision. idiots.
can you tell i fell strongly about religion?
hehe, i could do this for hours now, venting and expressing, but im a lil achy, so i will end it there, and maybe go for a second installment later.
