This is a random scene from a film that I may never make. I have no idea where else to put it... but I think I like it. It would also be black and white and very, very over done.

"Don't hurt her. She's a nice girl." She kisses him on the forehead. He grabs her arm before she can leave.
"I know. I don't want to hurt her. Or you, for that matter."
Surprised, she asks, "Me? Why should I come up here?"
He smirks a little, "Oh, come on. You aren't exactly shy about it."
She tries to pass it off as a joke, "HA! Oh, that... Well, I'd have a good night with you anyhow but-"
"That's not it. I think you have something real for me... But I just don't know what to do. I love her a lot. I really do. I care about her."
"Then stay with her if you're so happy. Your other little 'flower' isn't exactly going to run to you now. And who else have you got then?"
"You."
"Me again! HA. You wouldn't have the time, you said."
"I know what I said but-"
She interrupts, looking away from him, almost hiding her face, "You don't have time for a relationship anyway... and... and I don't have the energy. I've got baggage weighing me down."
He tilts her face towards his again and sits her down on the arm of the chair, "I know. I've got some baggage too, you know."
"I'm well aware. You complain about it enough." They laugh a little.
"I'll carry some of yours if you carry some of mine."
She laughs again but nervously, "I can't trust you with my things."
"Why not?"
"We just aren't going onto the same plane, I'm afraid. I'm going one way, you're going another... We won't even meet up at baggage claim."
"Are you claiming I have none?" He smiles.
"No, silly. What I'm saying is... Well... Oh, just forget it." She gets off of the chair and begins to cry.
He gets up and follows to where she's wandered to, and looks towards her with great concern, "What's the matter?"
"Nothing. Nothing worth crying over, anyway. Ignore me. For both our sakes... And hers!"
"But... You're crying. Please! Did I say something wrong? Whatever it was I-"
"No. No, you've never done ANYTHING wrong. I find no fault in you. That's part of the problem. I can't even think about anyone else. I used to be so in love... I can't feel anything for him. I used to run around with any man I saw... I can't do that. I have no drive to do so! All I see is you... And maybe that isn't such a bad thing."
"Then why the tears? You said you wanted to calm down."
"Don't you know?"
"I can't if you won't tell me. Why have you been so cold? You come so near, then shy away as though offended, and now, you won't even tell me why!"
"YOU KNOW WHY! You must know... Don't you?"
"I haven't the faintest, I'm afraid."
"I thought it was obvious. That's what you said, anyway. I've tried to tell you what it really is. Oh GOD how I've tried... It's just... We're never alone and you've got so much on your mind already... And... Well... I- I can't. I- I'm sorry. I am so very sorry."
"Sorry about what?"
"You frighten me."
"Why?"
"Because I've never felt like this before. Not ever so quickly, anyway. So passionately. It's too much. I feel like a child. I become so afraid to chase you away, so afraid to have you, for fear that I may lose you..."
"You could never lose me. You're too good of a friend to me."
"My friend. My dear friend... That's just it. I wish I could explain..."
"Please try."
"I wish I could tell you-"
"Then tell me!"
"It would only complicate things! You say you have so much on your mind. So much hectic nonsense in your life-"
"You're usually so calming though."
"And this would ruin that calm. It would cause a storm, don't you see?"
"What's worse is what my mind is hatching. I'm beginning to think you just hate me." He begins to turn away.
"It couldn't be worse!"
He turns back and puts his hands on her shoulders as she falls to her knees. He also leans down on one knee, "Well, then what the Devil IS it?"
"I LOVE YOU!"
He goes quiet, "Oh."
"You see? You see how it's shattered us? It's been haunting me."
"What we were perhaps... Not what we could be."
"What are you-" He interrupts her with a kiss.
