Style

What defines a style? How does one create a style? How do you come into your own definitive? I think I'll spend a good part of today searching for that answer.

Meh. To me, style is whatever you feel fits you. It defines you that way.

But that's all. I don't try for style, I just do what I feel works. *shrug*

ummmmmm.....a thread of consistency that can be related back to an origin or something preceding? inclinations that are pseudo predictable?
What context of the word are you pondering?

When one tends to do something repetitively, it becomes their "style". Like, my aversion to monogamy is just 'my style.' Or the obnoxious amount of black in my wardrobe. or, as one of my figure drawing teachers lectured me about, my tendency to use heavy, dark lines that is akin to a Kathe Kollwitz-like style.

Doing something whether it be art, writing, dressing 'in the style of' is taking consistent components to create an overall generalization.

er, yea, that's all i got for now.

i did mean it in the sense of art. and you caught on pretty quick. i've been thinking of my photography. how i'd like to find my style in what i do, to have it noticeable when someone sees one of my photos you know?

i guess it's time to start experimenting in post work or when shooting to see what i can come up with from what i've learned. it hasn't been so long that i've taken this seriously so i can only imagine it won't come out instantly. i've always seen an artist's style develop, change, and eventually become what we know them for, and then most change again anyway.
