pope john paul II is dead
kinda sad, i never read much about him, or ..cared much to read about him, i'm not catholic, he didnt exactly affect me--and i pretty much oppose catholicism, so didn't have much of a reason to look up to him. but he was a polish pope, which is rare enough, and he wasn't an extremist to the point of smothering the catholics, and he was modern enough to invite break dancers into the vatican.

what makes me sad though is how many people are dying every single day and don't get stories like this written about them. -not that they should, there aren't enough reporters for it, but this is just one man. ..but that's only my opinion, god knows it'd be different if it was [god forbid] my King who passed on--i'd want to know immidiately even though i'm not in sweden. i guess this is like the catholic king then ..but he lived a good, long life; good old pope, got to 84 years.

i'm curious to see where the next pope'll be elected from.

in other news, i saw sin city last night--it was so much fun. -not even scary, but fun. it was really like a rollercoaster ride, just fun and one turn more thrilling than the previous. i went with julie and nebila, and i think i was the only one who wasn't asking for a point. i never believed a movie required a point, especially one based on a graphic novel: they're just entertainment. if they make us gasp, shudder, squeal, laugh, giggle, shout and/or scream they've done their job superbly, at least that's what i believe. obviously it's a bonus if they make us think and rethink certain things, that's even better, but its not required--they're not there to play gandhi, they're there to play jim carrey. -or maybe i should change that, after all, everyone has seen eternal sunshine: they're there to play ellen degeneres.
