When all was said and done, Lennox was pretty sure he'd be happy if he never had to help Hal have puppies ever again. It wasn't that they weren't cute or that he thought it was gross, really, but it was tiring and he hadn't even done the actual birth part. He'd spent the better part of the afternoon cleaning puppies and rubbing them down with towels and placing them against Hal's stomach, hoping they'd eat. He and Chris had cleaned Hal up as gently as possible, cleaned up the box she'd been in and now she was in the new clean box with fresh towels, five little puppies nursing from her.
One was smaller than the others and Chris had already picked that one as the one he wanted to keep. They were all different colours, one nearly as white as Hal with some brown spots and a few others with clear German Shepherd markings. The little one was a mix of both, white in the face with brown markings.
"Man, that was kinda neat to watch," Lennox said finally, sitting down on the bed with a sigh. "Emmy's gonna be happy to know the puppies are finally here." He thought Robin might actually be happier.
