[For Chris] Presents

Jan 05, 2008 10:35

On Sunday morning, Lennox wasn't expecting things to be any different than they'd been the day before. For awhile now, he'd been preparing for the snow to disappear, but it wouldn't be such a big deal when it did because he was expecting it. It wouldn't be such a big deal because they had the rink now, too. The rink made dealing with the loss of ( Read more... )

Chris only responded with a grunt at first, a soft, sleepy sound before he rolled onto his side and unconsciously curled up closer to Lennox, an arm slinging over his waist.

"Warm," was all he said because he was. Almost too warm. And it was a different kind of warm from being covered in blankets, something a lot more fundamental that in his sleepy state, he couldn't quite put his finger on.

"Yeaaah," Lennox agreed, the word drawn out long and slow as he lifted the bottle of Moosehead beer up off the floor and shifted it into his lap. There was a folded up note taped to the bottle cap and he stared at it for a long moment.

"I think the snow is gone," he said finally. "And there's a bottle of beer here with a note that has my name on it." The last time this had happened they'd ended up with a rink and a generator.

His eyes slowly opened at that, peeking open and landing on Lennox before shifting to notice the bottle in his hands.

Frowning slightly, he lifted a hand to touch the note attached to the bottle and then shifted his weight some, suddenly growing more awake. "Is there one for me?" he asked, remembering back to the year before. There'd been a note for both of them and then there'd been the rink and a generator.

"Um..."

Lennox looked up then, the bottle of beer still in his hands, the note unread, and his eyes widened as he stared out at the hut. It was a hut again, no more cabin, and it was suddenly, hugely crowded.

"Chris, get up," he said, still staring out at the hut. This was insane, it was crazy. It was really freaking awesome.

Looking even more confused, Chris pushed himself up with a soft grunt and immediately saw what Lennox was looking out. Directly at the foot of their bed, crowding up what little room they had in the hut, sat a couch and loveseat.

"Holy..." his voice trailed off and Hal, who lay curled up on the loveseat, raised her head and gave a quick, excited bark.

"Holy shit," Lennox supplied for Chris before he finally looked down at what he was holding in his hands. The note on the beer had his name on it, so he pulled it off and unfolded it, scanning the words.

"This one says there's something else for me in the rink," he said, looking a bit confused. "So I guess that means the couch and shit is your present?" Although obviously Lennox intended on enjoying them. Obviously Hal did, too.

Chris only responded with a quick, still surprised laugh and shifted to slip out of bed, immediately happy that the warm weather had returned even as he missed the winter at the same time. It was a lot easier to walk around naked when it wasn't so damn cold.

Hal immediately started wagging her tail as Chris got closer and Chris gave another quick laugh. "Jesus, we don't have room for these," he said, but he sounded amused more than anything.

"We could make room," Lennox said, reading over his note again before he set the bottle of beer aside and got out of bed as well. Pushing back the covers, he headed for the couch and immediately flopped down on it, half landing on Hal.

"Fuck, man, these are comfortable," he told Chris, stretching out a little bit. "You really should try out your present. Is there a note or anything with them?" There had been the last year.

With an amused expression, Chris watched Lennox and carefully made his way around the loveseat, a hand smoothing over the fabric before he found a tag hanging from the arm of it.

"Yeah, it's for me," he said, quirking a smile as he read the note. "Or, for us, I guess. The three of us."

"Your name is on it," Lennox said, flopping around until he could read the tag and there it was, clear as day, 'Chris Cutter'. "That makes it your present, man. I'm just gonna share with you 'cause you married me and love me, right?"

He was willing to share whatever he'd gotten with Chris, of course, although he didn't know what that might be just yet. "These are really comfortable, man. Squishy."

Laughing a little, Chris moved to take a seat next to him, groaning as he sunk into the soft cushions and resting back.

"These are nice," he agreed, turning his head slightly to grin over at Lennox. "And you got a bottle of Moosehead? I think I got the better present, man."

"The note says there's something else for me in the rink, asshole," Lennox said with a soft laugh, waving it at Chris a little bit. "I dunno what it is, but it better be something good if you're getting a couch and a love seat. That'd be unfair. I'd have to have a little talk with the island about it."

The beer was a nice start, though, Lennox had to admit. He missed it badly and although there was beer on the island, it wasn't quite like Moosehead.

Still grinning, Chris nodded and then shifted on the couch, his body twisting as he laid back to rest his head on Lennox's thigh, legs hanging over the opposite side.

"Wonder if you got another rink," he murmured with a silly-looking grin. "That'd be kind of great. Could really have a tournament then."

"I want something else this year. That's like getting someone the same lame sweater two years in a row," Lennox said with a grin, tilting his head back against the very comfortable couch.

"We're gonna have to expand the hut to fit this shit in here," he pointed out after a moment. It wasn't something he would mind doing anyway, mostly because he'd grown to love building. It gave him something to do that was physical and was something he was good at.

"Mm," Chris grunted in agreement, his hands resting over his bare chest as he let his eyes slip shut, his head comfortable on Lennox's thigh. "Been meaning to anyway," he pointed out, the lazy smile still curving his lips. "Now it's just more immediate. Just need a living room, really. Maybe a guest room."

A guest room without a bed, but they could make a bed easily enough.

Giggling a little at that, Lennox looked down at Chris and asked, "What do we need a guest room for? It's not like any of our friends need to crash here so they don't drive home drunk."

Although that would be kind of funny. "Unless you're pregnant and just haven't told me yet," he added with a grin. "Is that was we need an extra room for?"
