Because pirates are way cooler than ninjas

Last night's evening out to the cinema went well, I thought. We were go for 2-4-1 meals at the Litten Tree - an offer that was generous and ruthlessly exploited (Step 1: Get a cinema ticket for £6. Step 2: Buy a £10 bottle of wine to share, and get a second free. Step 3: Profit!). Having essentially got our money back on the tickets, all of the assembled multitude (upwards of fifteen of us, in the end) managed to get into the same screen, which was looking unlikely earlier.
Finally, the film itself was great fun: a very satisfying cinema experience, with the action steered yarely to the watchable side of frantic. It added a good deal of value to Dead Man's Chest, in that it was it was essentially the second of a two-parter, almost entirely divorced from Black Pearl. As a second part, it tied up all its plot arcs well, in ways that felt right, which I'm always a sucker for (including one of my personal storytelling Golden Rules: go out the way you came in :) ). Also, there were a couple of moments in it, particularly the Pirate Council, where you could see that the cast were obviously thinking Oh wow... this is fantastic, which is always good to see - they were having fun, and we were fortunate enough to be in on it.

Possibly my best moment, however, goes to:

"Heh. Wouldn't it be really cool if that was...
Oh, holy crap - it is...
Awesome!"

If you've seen it, you'll know what, or more specifically who, I mean. If not, do so, and you will.
