Ska is NOT dead...yet. 'Tis only a flesh wound...
You know what I would have in a perfect world? (Well, I mean other than 2.4 kids, enough money to never have to work but not so much to change me into some idolistic bast*rd, a white picket fence, and a porch that wraps around all four sides of my beautiful farm home...) A true ska cover of 99 Red Balloons (or 99 Luft Balloons...I'm not picky).
Many of you don't know but my favorite song in the world is 99 Red Balloons. Between dropsofblood and I we have both the original English and German versions from Nena, plus every punk and pop cover done over the last 20 years. But you know...there really isn't a true ska cover. Now, ska bands have covered the song, sure, but they didn't make it a ska song. I'll only say this once, so listen up-it's important....SKA IS NOT DEAD.
I blame jztank for my ska "thing" because he's the one that really introduced me to it. (Remember all those nights cruising Plymouth/Canton and the D in the Redneck Racer?) But I really think ska has a lot going for it. I won't get into it here, not again. But it's one of the few genres that really, really makes me smile. There are plenty of songs of every genre that make me truly happy, but not like ska. There are a very small number of ska songs I don't like, but that I can appreciate.

Anyway...work's good. I'm really not looking forward to tonight. I don't really mind going to my dad's house. It means we don't have to cook, clean, etc. But we do become the center of attention. Well...I know we need to have this talk anyway, so what can ya do?
[Simply Red--The Air That I Breathe...Dy, I only remember having you download one Simply Red song when I was in Michigan and you were in Texas...yet this is the third one I've heard today...do you have a guilty pleasure?...wait...nevermind...I remember this one now...it's just not the radio version I'm used to...]
But no, I mean my dad and step-mom are cool most of the time. It's just having to talk about adult sh*t that I don't look forward to. LOL. But we need to. And I think a lot of things will be better after. My stepmom said we're not allowed to get divorced...ever. Both of my step-brothers divorced their first wives, and she doesn't want to go through that again. dropsofblood and I don't either. My stepmom really likes Dy...so does my Dad. Neither one was happy when I told them she was going back to Texas. They were like all of you, they thought it was going to be a lot longer than it was. Anyway...at least I finally found one that my family likes, and that I really love. That helps. :)
