They haven't done the things i've done...
HAHAHAHA PTSD clarinet boy is such a gem. But today's theme is things i regret doing.
i regret taking a plan with Globe. Their service sucks, and they always get the bill wrong. The numbers don't add up and they're always too damn high. The phone? The S3? Great phone in theory, it's quad core and everything but that just became pointless. i thought it could be powerful enough to use as a desktop. i was wrong. Just adding the monitor, keyboard or mouse causes it to lag. The internet lags BIG TIME on it. Chat is ok, but when you start browsing things start to suck. Worst of all, the damn thing keeps requesting the MOBILE version of the site, even tho it's perfectly capable of handling the full version, and the mobile versions always SUCK. i configured the browser to request for the desktop versions of the sites i go to but things are still crap. On desktop mode, flash player loads like shit, and for some reason the sites keep auto-refreshing. Wtf. My main test for mobile browsing was to see if i could watch porn comfortably on it: It failed miserably. The websites kept getting laggy, i couldn't even browse picture galleries on it without getting frustrated.
In conclusion... The S3 is still just a phone. i was dumb to expect more of it. i thought the high specs and capabilities of this thing would make up for the fact that the ergonomics of using it as a phone suck bigtime, but no. In the end it's still just a mobile device. All those 2GB RAM and Quadcore claims aren't worth much. If you want a high end smartphone that functions well as a phone, go for something smaller and cheaper, like the S2, or a Nokia Windows 8 phone. Those seem great to use as phones and as mobile computing devices, with not so bad prices.
Well what am i gonna do with this thing... My gunsmith offered me a deal - i give him the S3 in exchange for a gun and his Galaxy S. i initially declined, saying i already had a desktop setup made for the S3 but seeing as how this rig is worthless and a pain in the ass to use... i'm tempted to take him up on the deal. The Galaxy S, altho an old phone, is, i think, just as functional as the S3 in terms of mobile computing. i mean, what difference does 2 Gig of RAM and 4 cores make when all you do on mobile is browse and play shitty android games? Plus, i get a gun out of the deal. Why kill people in a mobile gaming environment when you can shoot them up in real life? *maniac laugh*
i regret going to Cubao from Batangas so many months ago. That trip is turning out to be more trouble than it's worth. The situation is mostly my fault though, for being weak willed.
i don't know if i regret taking my job or not. We got commissions. It's not much tho but "it's something" hahahahahahaha. The learning is very valuable tho. i may be able to nail a string very high paying freelance gigs coz of the knowledge i've gained during the year i've been with my company.
i was issued a company laptop. That made me happy for a while coz it's Core I5 2.5Ghz, and thought i'd be able to upgrade it to 8 gig of RAM. That would make the memory requirements of the engineering tools i use negligible, and therefore make me much more efficient. No more lag time, even when using VMWare (an OS within an OS - we need this for certain tasks) with the highest end engineering software. All my hopes and dreams were shot down over the past three days when i found out the OS was Windows 7, 32 bit, meaning it would only recognize 4 GB of RAM. The FUCK IS THAT?! That makes this laptop i'm using now, an ancient (in tech years) 5 year old Acer laptop NEARLY EQUAL TO IT. Sure this one's only 2.0 GHz but fucking shit this thing has 4GB of RAM. A 0.5 GHz advantage ISN'T GOING TO DO MUCH.
i'm tempted to buy a legit Windows 7 64bit OS (oh yeah, the work laptop i'm using has a non-legit copy) but that costs, what 8k? THEN i'll have to reformat the entire fucking thing AND THEN spend another 3k on 8 gig worth of RAM. Only to have all that return to the company once i resign. No thanks. i don't wanna ask the boss or worse, HR/Accounting for budget to do that. There's no way to explain to the morons in HR/Accounting how much of a godsend high specs will be for our field of work. They'll just "meh" at me and say "just live with what you have". THIS SLOW PIECE OF SHIT (referring to the work laptop)?! Fuck. You have no idea how much time is wasted compiling and recompiling, only to find out there's something wrong with the internal data structure of the program you made (meaning, the development environment crashed for some reason that can't be explained in the help files or forums, so contact the Germany office of the software developer for help).
It fucking pisses me off to learn today that the phone i'm paying so much for, and the laptop i had such high hopes for are worth nothing. Congratulations, you've won NOTHING. (Video relevant.)
