my blog is really elsewhere
hello. i just have this account to more easily comment on the LJ's of friends. I do have a blog which i update regularly.
A little about me:
I'm currently a student at SLIS. I'll graduate with an MLS and MIS degree this December. In terms of research, I'm interested in online communication, especially blogs, and how activist groups can effectively use on-line communication tools. I'm also interested in the semantic web, and ethics. I'm a member of BROG. I hope to get a postion with a liberal non-profit group upon graduation.
Outside of school i like to read (i was an english major in college focusing on female authors, and had a minor in gender studies), listen to all kinds of music (fortunately my partner is a DJ), knit, go clubbing when there's actually a place to go).
I'm trying to become a better cook, a nicer person, and learn how to program without freaking out.
Obviously, I have cats and turtles.
Favorite Drinks: Guinness, Murphy's, Macallan 15.

Favorite SLIS class so far: tie between Information Technology & Society and Statistics for Information Science and Usability
Favorite Vacation: visiting the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone
