Hurricane Frances, labor day and new clothes
I just spoke to my friend Cas. She lives in Jacksonville. She was telling me about some of the crazy precautions they have to take for the next few days. The hurricane isn't projected to hit them directly, so they haven't been ordered to evacuate...yet. You know what those weather men say though, it depends on whether the storm makes a turn. It's funny, I've only seen her twice in the last two and a half years and only talk to her every few months (though we email frequently), but I consider her to be one of my close friends. I can't wait to see her at my wedding! I hope she is safe this weekend.
Speaking of weekends, I am totally psyched about the 3 day weekend. My accountant friends can attest, most often it's unlikely it have a weekend to yourself this time of year. But this is why I left my old job, to have some of my life back to myself. I don't always enjoy the work, but the hours are a hundred times better! All the EY people are working 60-70 hour weeks right now and I'm just barely clearing 40!
I had a pretty shitty week this week, and to make up for it, I went shopping today. Norma told me the Loft has the promotion where for every $50 you spend, you get a $25 gift card to use in a few weeks. So really, you feel like you're getting everything half off. It's amazing how the marketing geniuses play with my head that way. I have to tell you though, as wonderful as a small shopping spree can be, a small shopping spree when you've dropped two sizes is just absolutely fabulous!
