I think if the Government hadn't stepped in and do something, on Monday when the market opened, there would be a crash worse than 1929, and we'd see a second Great Depression (and in this case, the sequel would be worse than the original). This would also drive down America's economy and make us almost a third world nation.

I'm glad action was taken to avoid this, but I am also pissed they waited this long to do something about it.

Not criticizing the government for taking action, but I am criticizing the general public for not taking personal action.

I'm just concerned that several people reading this aren't aware just how dire the situation is and just how deeply it will effect our personal lives in the next couple of months.

People really need to start setting some time aside, talking to their families, and creating an action plan. I just don't want to see my loved ones in a bad situation.

Yep, the US is pretty screwed at this point. Buckle up and prepare for some seriously bad times.

Eh, I'm all for socialism-esque government programs, but total communism tends to be... well, bad. Look at any country that tried it. The only real strong communist country left seems to be North Korea, whereas the USSR collapsed completely (Due to financial problems like the ones we're facing now (But of course a lot worse) in the end) and China's gradually drifting to socialism from the other direction ( ... )

Panic isn't good, but planning is. Not enough people are aware just how frightening the situation really is. If our value of life is on the fringe, personal action needs to take place by individuals, families, and communities.

Its frightening, but its true. Right now we can't really rely on promises or the saving graces of the treasury like we could in the 90's. People need to start moving into gear and figuring out where there assets are and what to do when the warning flags come up. Else they will be swept in panic and paranoia if shit hits the fan.

Its always better to be safe than sorry.

I think at this point most people will only worry if their personal comfort is directly threatened. A lot of people gave Bush a pass on Iraq, the Patriot Act, Guatanamo Bay, etc. It wasn't until Hurricane Katrina that they started to really disapprove. There's plenty of people who won't understand or worry about the problem until it's too late, no matter what else happens.
