Hurray! The piano is sold. The lady who answered my ad bought it last night. She bargained down from $3000 to $2700 because it's gonna cost her so much to move it. I get my half next week. Which means I can give Chris money towards the computer or ski trip or whatever he wants to apply it to. It's going straight into the joint account. Bye-bye cash. Oh well, it means I get to keep November freelance money for myself. More likely I'll spend it on X-mas presents for Patience. There's a new hokey pokey Elmo (last year we got her chicken dance Elmo) - her parents will continue to adore us for buying noisy, annoying toys. *g*
I'm sliding right into this management job. Yesterday in a meeting I think I surprised some people. I was a bit direct and insistent that we adjust the schedule for a book that one of my editors is working on. There's no way we can meet the deadline and acquisitions is insane to push for this. So I stood up for my editor and made acq. bend a little. I don't think they expected me to speak during these meetings, just take notes and answer questions if they had any. But my new boss wants me to be involved. I think he was impressed by me. Give me a title and I'm out of control. *eg*
open up wide for me,
you know you want a taste, lick
me, swallow me whole
*ahem* back to work now
