OMG, skiing, skiing, skiing. My father sent me $100 for xmas this year and I bought a new helmet with it. There's nothing like a new helmet that fits perfectly to give you (possibly too much) confidence on the slopes. Went out yesterday with Chris and Dan (neighbor). It snowed all day while we were out there, temps in the 20s, so it was warm and the snow was soft. Had an amazing time. Skied some insane terrain. At one point we were in Stonegrove (my fav unmarked tree run) and ended up farther left than usual and all came to a stop at the edge of a cliff we didn't even know was back there. There were some guys below smoking up who told us if we wanted to huck it, we'd need to do a sharp left or right as soon as we landed because there's a tree down there, you can't quite see until you go over. Umm... yeah, no thanks. *g*
But we skied powder in the trees and hit some totally untouched pow on a couple hard to get to runs that we finagled our way over to. (It's awesome being a local and knowing all the stuff that's not on the trail map.) By the end of the day we were so wiped we skipped SAR training. I just couldn't do a classroom discussion on mechanical advantage.
This morning Winter Park reported 9" of new snow, so we hit the slopes again before I came to work. I only skied about 1.5 hours, but it was intense. Our first run was all powder which is much tougher, 2nd run more pow and a bit of bumps and trees, 3rd run was all trees, and 4th run was down Trestle which is a bump run that I simultaneously love and fear. Trestle's crazy long bump run with this big cliff in the middle where we have what Chris and I call the "stay right or die" line (meaning if you go really far to the right, you can ease down around the cliff rather than going over it). After Trestle, I headed for the truck because I didn't think I had enough time to get back up the lift and then back to the truck and not be late for work. Also I was beat. Four intense runs with only the lift ride as a break had me pretty worked over after yesterday's insanity.

Work has been dead today. 4.5 hours so far with not one single customer. But it's kind of nice because I'm feeling a little antisocial this afternoon. At least this way I don't have to pretend to like people, right?
