What comes after desperation?

So, what's the feeling that is worse than desperation? Because whatever it is, I'm whallowing in it. Still no job. Still no whisper of a job. THe various websites with want-ads I usually check out are slowing down. In an act of desperation I applied to several receptionist/office assistant jobs and a couple temp agencies, just so I can do

I've found that many times, people don't want to hire you unless you're working somewhere else, because they see it as a sign that you have a good work ethic. Definitely the worst thing you can do is to let years go by after you get your degree and not be working; that makes you look lazy as heck. So, it can only help your chances of getting the job you really want to be working somewhere else right now.

Most jobs I went out for had hundreds of applicants. A lot of people are out of work!

I know, I went to the temp agency today and he said he had people coming in that were making $100,000 before. It's scary as hell out there. At least I applied to two more vet clinics today. Not that I have high hopes or anything.
