[Harry has never exactly been smooth and his sweaty palms are all too ample evidence of this fact. Wiping them nervously on his khakis (he'd actually made an attempt to dress up for this), he bit his lip nervously] Um, Murph? You got a minute?
[He takes a deep breath. He can do this] We've known each other for a while now and I was wondering if... [He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small ring] If you would marry me, Murph. I love you.
I've made some...arrangements with a few other wizards I know. They're going to take up the bulk of any weird things you may encounter. They'll also be keeping an eye out for us, just in case somebody has a grude. [Gently, he catches her hand in his] I was scared, Murph. I've never felt like this about someone and I didn't know what to do. I've lost everyone I ever really cared about so it was easier to tell myself that this would never work, that it would be too dangerous. But I can't lie anymore. I love you, and I really want the chance to make you happy. Please?
You idiot. You already make me happy. [She shakes her head and smiles fondly at him.] Okay. Okay. If you're crazy enough to want to marry me, I'm crazy enough to say yes.
[There's no faking the wide grin lighting Harry's face up] You seriously just made me the happiest man ever. I mean it. [Leaning down, he kisses her softly before sliding the ring onto her hand] This was my mother's. If you don't care for it, I can save up and get you something else...
[He exhales in relief, giving her a mock glare before looking down at the small diamond twinkling in the light] I think you would've liked her. I'm pretty sure she would've liked you, from what Dad told me of her. She was definitely her own woman.
