ok, so we had to write Emily Dickinson-esque poems for english, and I wrote a few, but I have no idea if they're any good. None of them are finished enugh to hand in or anything, but I'd appreciate any criticism and/or suggestions. (ps, if they don't make sense, it's because I didn't feel like I was being esoteric enough, so I made up some things.)

I saw a flow'r--pushing past grass
And-stretchingly proclaim-
“All look to me-and me alone”
But fragile was her stem

The fallacy-initiative-
Inspired so her pride
To be far better than the rest-
Thinks she-is to succeed

So all the blades bent in the wind
Acknowledging her skill
While-uttered she-a sickening snap
The fruit of all her wealth

I stand here at my funeral-
I watch the mourners pass
In a parade of memory-
With hearses like black floats

And there’s my body-smiling now
And causing me to smile
Though-while shrouded in breathing life
I’d never had the will

And I see dirt stifle my face
And I hear gasping sobs
But never do I look away-
For sadness always ebbs

I cannot see me anymore
I know me still to be-
But where I am is buried deep
Beneath Eternity-

***

I’ve lived a life in metaphor
Alluding to myself-
A clumsy, cliche parable
Embarrassing to tell-

While foppishly outfitted with
Words I see fit to say
And weaving tight the meaning wisps
Into a bolt of fey

But searching my immortal soul-
I find that is has gone
Obscured by fine words and device
Tipsy with paltry song-

***

I’ve lived a life in metaphor
Alluding to my soul-
A tiny bug that’s drowning in
The bucket of a well

For God enjoys amusing rhyme
As much as any man
While-hours of devoted pray’r
Can win as much from Him-
