It's official, the world has gone crazy. I don't see any other reason why Scott Pilgrim vs. The World has grossed only 10.5 millions (estimated) this weekend.
C'mon! Yes, it is bigger than that of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz ($3,330,781 and $5,848,464 respectively), however the British flicks had less theatres. Like a lot less. So while Scott has scored $3,735 per theatre this weekend, it is less than Shaun's $5,487 or Nicholas Angel's $7,089. Moreover, Shaun and sergeant Angel had smaller budget - $6.3 mill and $12.6 mill vs. Pilgrim's 60 mill. To cover it Scott has to gross like 120 millions during his theatre run. So I really hope for the word-of-mouth and worldwide box office that should save Edgar's first American film from being a flop.
