So two years ago I created a mix for a group of my friends entitled "The Voices." It consisted of about 15 songs sung by what I considered to be the sexiest voices of all time.

Well, time changes everything, and I want to update my list. But I need suggestions. I want to know: Who do you think has the sexiest singing voice? Who would you like to ( Read more... )

I LOVE the fact that you're including DC in your sexy voice list. But if you're going to put him in the mix, you have to investigate some of his older stuff from Axium and Analog Heart. There is this song called Callout that's friggan hot. Although, you could include their cover of "Creep" because to hear David growl "You're so fucking special", well that just does things to me. Heee

Oh and you have to include Springsteen's I'm on Fire. HOT.

And I'm On Fire, omfg. Yes, I love the Boss's version, but I think you all know I have fantasies of Josh singing that one to me. Nnnghhh. Jiminy Cricket on a pogo stick, that would be hot.

Oh I forgot to mention that the people you're suggesting on the list already are good choices. :) Johnny Lang and John Legend too.....God, I think this mix will become my new do me list...So you KNOW I want a copy once its done.

I feel like I should go run around the block 20 times then take an ice cold shower.

Bad combination of caffeine and hot rocker boys.

1.) That first guy, sadly.
2.) Michael Hutchence - at least on The Passenger.
3.) Brian Stokes Mitchell - the man sings like velvet on velvet-enhancing drugs.
4.) Gavin Degraw, despite what you say.
5.) Michael Bublé, though I may get shot for that one.

I think that's all for now...I'm sure I'll come up with more at 3 a.m., when I'm supposed to be sleeping.

It's a good list, and I DO agree with Gavin. Especially on the bluesy stuff.

And the Passenger is easily the sexiest song on the planet.

Every time I read one of your music blogs (or your writing playlists), I feel quite musically uneducated. :) Obviously MGB would be on my list. (And him singing "I'm on Fire"? GUH.) But there are a few people on there that I'll have to go on itunes and check out, because I'm not familiar with them.

Also, I'm having a difficult time differentiating between "sexy voice" and "pretty voice," because I seem to think of pretty voices first and then remember that pretty doesn't necessarily equal sexy. I'm going to have to give this some thought. :) But I definitely want a copy of the mix when it's finishd!

(Speaking of pretty, did you hear Josh sing God Bless America tonight? I just watched it on youtube, and it was goooorgeous.)

I think, for me, what sets a sexy voice apart is the way it's used. They have either a smooth, silky quality (like Buble or John Legend) or they either naturally sound like they're in the throes of passion when they sing (Ryan Tedder) or they can make their voice sound that way (Gavin DeGraw). In other words, for me, it's about bedroom voices. Either the guy whispering suggestions in your ear or the one moaning them. Ha.

Mmmm, I think George Michael does have a sexy voice, especially when he sings 'Father Figure'. One of my fav sexy songs ever, and I like it now more than back in the day because it is soooooo NOT politically correct anymore (if it ever was). The lyrics are edger than even George would have guessed that they might become someday, especially considering the topic and the lyrics of Father Figure.

Better yet, how about if Josh covers/sings Father Figure? Hmmmmm...........yeah. He could be my father Figure anytime, anywhere.....

That said, David Cook would do a remarkable job of it. In fact, when AI had a George Michael medley and DC sang a bit of that song, I nearly lost control.

Yeah, I think I would have lost control, too. I wish I had heard David singing that GM song!!! Must have been pretty darn sexy! That was one AI show that I missed. But I did catch the show where David sang Billie Jean and it was fantastic! I couldn't believe my ears.
