Last week, I fled reality - again - and plunged into another mind-boggling book of the discworld series by Terry Pratchett. They do effect my sense of reality rather strongly, next to being hilarious enough to have me dissolving in giggling fits in busses and trains... So, for relaxation, I changed over to the luscious, lovely fangirling of Anne Rice. Rereading her books is like returning to beautiful places on holiday. And I found one of my most favourite passages in Blackwood Farm again:
"The young are eternally desperate", Lestat said frankly. "And books, they offer one hope - that a whole universe might open up from between the covers, and falling into that new universe, one is saved.
How many of you agree with that notion, huh? Or should I rather ask who disagrees? I'd love to read your opinion, anyways.
And while I'm happy rereading books I loved and still love, I'm experimenting a lot with music at the moment - thanks to the overwhelming offer of CDs in the public libraries. It's something like smooth funk right now.
Yes, I know I should really, really work on that linguistics paper and I will start now. After I got dressed.
