Just had a very weird dream, which I thought I'd try to get down in text before it all fades.
It started traveling around in what seemed like Scotland, with some friends (I knew they were friends, no idea who they were). I'd always only just make my train, but the same friend would always have my bag, so it would be ok. There was a patch in the middle of this where I was driving around on a motor scooter for some reason. This section ended by me getting off the train in what I think was London, and us going to a place they called the library.
When I entered the library, there was a big weird floating section where I got shown a great cosmology, where there had been two gods/goddesses, but they had broken for some reason, and now there were five of them. Different worlds could be told apart by how the moons that represented these deities looked from them. There was some stuff here that I'm sure I can't remember properly. Right at the end of this section there was a bit where these people that I couldn't see were chanting religious doctrine at me, and it was showing up as text written with books (letters made from multiple books slotted together, or single letters on the cover, it changed partway through). It was all going too fast for me to take in, but it ran past twice, with the books moving in different ways for the second run. This ended up with the darkness going away and me standing in a massive, old fashioned library, feeling very confused.
When I first arrived, I hadn't got my bag (again), and something fell from the roof and landed on my foot. When I looked around to ask someone what it was, a voice said the name of it, and the name appeared as white letters in my vision. When I asked about my bag, a man appeared from a side door with it, asked if it was, and handed it over. Soon after, while I was looking around confused, a girl ran past being harassed by a guy. I managed to talk the guy into leaving through a door, which seemed to lead outside. He came back and asked to use my phone.I told him that he couldn't use my phone, because it had no signal, which made him say something smug about it, and leave a second time. Right after that I pulled out my phone, and though, "Ha, I lied", at which point the signal bar jumped from empty to full, and it started showing a lift descending multiple floors on the screen. This is on a 3410, which can barely run snake. I was puzzled by this and shoved it back in my pocket.
I then spent some time browsing in the library, until I asked a guy how I checked books out. He moved away from my rapidly, looking scared by something. When I turned around to put the books down on a table, a piece of old looking paper appeared, floating in the air. This explained that you bought books from the library with library points, and gave me a handful of these points, which appeared as old looking coins. I then wondered out loud how much all of my books would cost, and the paper told me to go to the desk on the top floor, but estimated the cost as 1 more than I had. Then a man walked over and said "One more than you have, right? Here, have one of mine". I said I couldn't for a bit, and then took the coin. At this point the estimate cost jumped by 5 points. When I turned around to ask the man about this, he had vanished. Then the coin he had given me turned into a coppery snake with the coin for a head, and started talking to me. I noticed in small print at the bottom of the paper a note saying "Except under special dispensation by the management, staff at the library must live here", which seemed a bit weird. I walked around for a bit, talking to the snake. Then I found a couple of my friends, and showed the coin snake to them. They agreed that it was cool, and said I should show it to some other people. I went over to them, and started talking, and the snake jumped off onto one of them. After a bit, she started to wander off, and I asked for my coin back, and she handed me a few coins that clearly weren't my coin. When I questioned her about this she apologised, and explained that she had absorbed it.
I then walked over to a section of desks with people that seemed to be working in the library, to see if I could find how to get to see someone in charge. While I was over there, my phone gave me very accurate pictures of weird things happening to people, that then came true in a minute or so. I also did some various bits of magic, like growing spikes from my elbows to get someone who jumped me and had a knife to my throat off me. This seemed totally normal at the time. I finally got told that management were on one of the high floors in the building, so I'd need to go up to the ground floor and get a lift. I walk up the stairs to the foyer area, which appears to have an Underground station exiting into it, and walk around looking for a lift. While I'm here, I spot a manager babbling in managementese at some workers, who seem genuinely encouraged by it. I walk over to him when the staff leave, and tap him on the elbow, wanting to ask him where the lift to the higher floors is. He collapses dead to the floor with a horrified expression on his face. No one around seems to care about this at all. The whole area seems to be a slightly twisted version of normal life, where on first sight it looks normal, but then feels deeply wrong. Then I finally chose a lift, since it was the only one I could find.
When I was in the lift, there was a woman and her child in there already. When we reached the first floor, three men came in from the side (not through the doors), and pulled out a gun. I somehow made the gun twist into knots and leap into my hand. I also then made the guy who had the gun think he was a frog. The other two then stood in the corner looking sheepish. Me and the woman get out (the child vanished without bothering me at some point in the proceedings), and she thanks me for saving her. At this point my view jumps back to the ground floor outside, where the name of the building is shown in metal letters on the facing. Then the building turns upside down, tumbling me and the woman around in the room, the ends of the building shift ends, and the name changes to something else. I think it was Aberdeen building changing to Wuxia building. The surrounding city changes radically, but no one walking by notices. I pick myself up and get back to the ground floor, giving up on going to the management for some reason. On the way down the building flips over again, changing to a third name in a different place again. I then spent some time wandering around trying to find some idea what was going on, with not much luck.
