"On December 2nd, 2014, on my radio show 'Arashi Discovery', I talked about dancing.
I said, 'When you're dancing, the biggest mistake is thinking too much. Feeling the music is the most important thing.'
This is what Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, is said to have replied when asked in an interview.
'What do you think about when you dance?'
I kind of exaggerated it by thinking, 'What if Michael spoke Japanese, he'd say something like this.'
I learned about this from a listener named Chi-chan.
When I read her email, it said,
'Good morning. I watched the English lesson with Sumire on the recent episode of "嵐にしやがれ". It was hilarious. I want to hear 大野くん's "Michael Jackson" again. So, what kind of state are you in when you're dancing?'
Ah...
I wonder what I'm thinking about when I'm dancing...
Honestly, I don't even remember the choreography properly, and I find myself thinking, 'What was the next move?' while dancing.
Isn't that like... being forced to dance? Hmm...
Now, that sounds kind of cool... but I'm a bit embarrassed.
Well, so anyway, ideally, it would be best if the music started playing and my body just moved on its own, you know, when you're truly feeling it.
Hmm, that's ideal.
Sometimes, at home, I have music playing as a BGM...
And I'm drawing...
And during a break... I feel like moving.
Not vigorously, but just a little.
I feel like I'm dancing the most during those moments.
Because I'm truly feeling it.
So, it's like I'm drawing, but I heard the music and felt something, so I moved a little...
Hmm.
Well, isn't that great?
But how did Michael Jackson do it?
Of course, there's the choreography.
He must have ingrained it into his body... and kept practicing.
Hmm.
I really wanted to ask him a lot of things.
Well, but the King of Pop is definitely Michael Jackson.
Oh, sorry, I learned this from Sumire, so I tend to say things like that.
Even so...
I've been wondering about this for a long time.
I used to call him 'Maikō,' right?
Yeah.
But you know, when foreigners speak Japanese...
When they study and speak Japanese, their pronunciation of katakana becomes super accurate.
I wonder if that ever changes.
For example, in the sentence I just said, it would be like...
"Well, this is what Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, an American singer, said."
Haha.
I wonder if that's difficult, using katakana...
I probably can't say "King of Pop" perfectly.
I'd like to hear how they do it.
If I heard someone do that, I'd think, 'Wow, that's amazing.'
I'd think they've mastered Japanese perfectly...
But it's cool, isn't it?
Saying it with perfect katakana pronunciation, I think it's really cool.
Well, I'll get there someday.
I'll keep speaking English from now on.
