Now it's winter

Apparently it is now winter here in Halifax.
I'm cold right now.
I guess I'm just used to Toronto and its ridiculous
temperatures until January.
I'm going to pick apples in a week and a bit.
Right now I am busking for a living.
Last night someone asked me if I was a man
to which i replied no, but he wouldn't be convinced
and then proceeded to tell me that it's a man's world
and "don't I agree?"
i promptly ended the conversation on this cue.
I hitch-hiked the entire circumference of Nova Scotia in
the past couple of weeks. It's a pretty neat province.
In Yarmouth I met a couple of scary 6 year olds wearing g-unit
clothes who asked me for a cigarette.
Upon my refusal to do so, the youngest and shittiest of the two
declared that "I smoked dicks", and then tried to throw a rock at
Sean's head.
He was like an asshole teenager stuck in a little kids body. I forsee
him getting worse with age.
Hitching out of there, we got a ride with an awesome guy with a puppy
in a filthy jeep, who out of the blue asks us "you wanna go climb some hills?"
Thinking he meant walking, we were both like "uhh, no not really" but
as it turns out, he is referring to hill climbing in the jeep.
So we drive off the highway a bit to this mud pit where he send this
jeep flying over mud heaps, whilst the puppy flies backward through
the car. The puppy was fine.
It was a highly eventful hitch.
Then we waited for four and a half hours for our next ride and just
as the "noseeums" start eating our faces (Because absolutely every bug
bites you here, or so it seems) a van pulls up beside us.
Then began the best hitch of the summer.
The driver was a 73 year old woman who loved Elvis and had birthed 14 children!
I happen to have a large Elvis patch sewn onto the back of my sweater,
so it was rather co-incidental if I do say so myself.
Riding with her was her 93 year old mother and they had only picked us up because
"I had a guitar"
They took us for dinner and then drove 50 km out of their way to drive us to Liverpool
which is the town near where Sean's Grandma lives, whom we were going to see.
It was just pretty swell to talk to people from that age group for a change.
My last half week has been rather uneventful, and today i'm going to busk and bike
around. I can't wait to start working, because I want to get on the rooooaad.
um happy labor
day.
hurray for labor.
