At that moment he was making his way back through the rain, alone. Xiao Lang stopped along the pathway he hadn't even tried to keep from getting wet. It had been raining that day too, hadn't it? When he'd escaped that prison only to end up in different one. Yeah, the rain could wash off the blood but his hands were still stained. While he wasn't sure what to expect upon returning to Hong Kong this was something he had do by himself.

Yelan got up suddenly, moving closer to the window and looking out through the rain.

"Mother?"

She said nothing, but her actions indicated otherwise. What she'd seen was nothing more than a shadow, yet even then, there was something in the rain that called out to her, something she hadn't felt in a long time. Six years? Perhaps more. It had been too long, much too long. And without another word she left the room, walking briskly, half-running by the time she came to a halt just at the front porch.

"Shaoran..." She hesitantly reached out with one hand, but only the raindrops responded. "I thought... I thought you'd come home..."

Xiao Lang's eyes widened to see his mother suddenly rush out on to the porch. That was answer enough, to refute the visions the Entropi had shown him.

"Mother," He said stepping forward, yet he made no move to take the hand extended towards him. "I am back."

"Mother, what's going-" Fanren stopped in midsentence, eyes wide at the sudden appearance of the boy in the midst of the rain, the boy that looked so familiar and yet so different. She took a step forward tentatively; it seemed real, he seemed to be really there, and yet, she feared that she - they - would lose him again. "Shaoran, is that really you...?"

But Yelan had no reservations, not this time anyway. The moment Xiao Lang called for her, she ran out into the rain and pulling her son into a firm embrace. "My son..." she whispered, closing her eyes, grateful that he was finally home, and grateful that the rain was there to conceal her tears.

Xiao Lang just stood there, as his mother hugged him in the rain. He wasn't sure what to do; he'd always stood straight before her, showing only the most respect. "Mother, I... you..." But the over all comfort of the moment won out over those formalities. He closed his eyes and slowly moved his hands to behind her to grip the fabric of his mother's shirt, like a lost child.

There was no need for words; she understood more than he knew. She'd heard the stories, all of them - Tomoyo and Touya's among the most striking - and all she'd ever wanted from then was just to have him back. She didn't care what he'd done, and there was no need to ask for forgiveness because he'd done nothing wrong. It was something Feiwong deserved, anyway, and she would've done it herself had Shaoran not beat her into it; alas, it had been too late when she found her strength to fight for her family.

She held him in the rain, tightly, unwilling to let go. She didn't want this to be another dream. "Welcome home," she whispered softly into his ear, before she pulled back to stare into his face. Her son... he'd grown up so much, all this time. She could see the traces of his sorrow, of the tragedy he had to endure, and pain pierced her heart like a flaming arrow.

She bowed her head. "I'm sorry."

'Welcome home.' At those words Xiao Lang's eyes opened. If his mother had just kept holding him he wouldn't have minded. This was where he belonged. He was finally home. And it was wrong to have ever thought about leaving it. Something that had come to mind more than a feew times than his time away.

Those years hadn't been easy on her either. He could see it in her face as she looked him over. She didn't look so young anymore.

When she bowed his first impulse was to bow lower. He didn't know what to say to the apology, there wasn't any reason for it, so he just remained silent.

The rain, however, was getting worse, and as trivial as it may seem, Yelan was worried about her son catching a cold. She put an arm around him in yet another affectionate gesture, one that he might've forgotten in the many years he'd been gone. "Let us head inside. Your sisters have been waiting," she said, before adding quietly, "And you might get sick."
