Hi There!

Oct 17, 2009 12:19

I just realised how long it's been since I posted - although I'm still very chuffed about my award - although maybe I should stop bringing that up quite so often now. :)

Anyway, I haven't much to report, to be honest. I'm just getting back to normal after a bad week with my usual pain problems, which is frustrating because it means I'm already behind with my new studies so soon after the course began. I'm really going to have to get stuck in after writing this because the first assignment is due in on Friday. Thank goodness for electronic submission, especially as the postal service is so disrupted right now.

Of course this catch up game is something that may well happen a lot over the next few months, so please take this as a warning that there will be an effect both on how often I post here and whether I produce any new fics. That doesn't mean I dont want to write more CSI stuff, just that sometimes it has to drop down my list of priorities. That said my brain occassionally nudges me and I'm considering setting my next story sometime in season three, but that's really as far as it's got so far.

In the meantime I'm relieved that the new series of "Most Haunted" has launched at last on Living so I've got something to amuse me on Tuesdays until CSI: season 10 finally arrives over here in January.

Finally, and maybe I shouldn't comment considering that I haven't seen any of the new series yet, but I can't help feeling a bit concerned about what's happening with Jorja Fox/Sara. Now, I know that her fans are all going to be pleased with the latest news, and I don't blame them, I know I'd be over the moon if Billy/Grissom came back long term, whatever the plot line.

However, I know that "The King" isn't going to be back much, if at all, because WP is enjoying himself too much elsewhere and, that said, how on Earth is the show going to keep up the believability of GSR, particularly in the form of a marriage? Yes, I know I made my own suggestion in Grissom's Grand Tour, but it was one thing for them to spend a few weeks apart now and then, but to make that an almost full time situation? I always said that the writers set themselves up for more problems than necessary with the Costa Rica scenes and now can't help thinking that maybe it would also have been better not to make Sara "Mrs Grissom" at this point. The only upside I can see is that it makes Geek Babies even less sensible logistically, although I'm sure many fanfic writers would disagree.

OK, I know it's a shock that I seem to care either way about GSR and, to be honest I don't care if the Grissom's stay as a unit or split, what I do worry about is the credibility of the show if they insist on both having their cake (insisting GSR is alive and well) and eating it (having Sara on the show without Grissom).

Well, I've spent too much studying time on this already, particularly when this was supposed to be quicker than writing a drabble on Grissom's thoughts about the situation, so, if any of you have thoughts, please comment and I'll continue the discussion in that way, if you want me to. I don't mind if you include spoilers about the Sara situation, as long as they're not connected to the specific cases in the episodes, I do like to try and work out whodunnit for myself, which is why I'm currently in the middle of the new CSI: Interactive book (please don't spoil that one for me either).

Bye for now.
