Just popping by to give a shout out to the show that has become Must Watch TV for me. I've never been able to get much into Sherlock Holmes - the novels or any of the million portrayals. (I was fleetingly fascinated by Christopher Lee's films when I was much younger but I doubt it will live up to the nostalgia). Arthur Doyle's collection of short stories were essentially procedurals starring - as Hercule Poirot would describe* - a human bloodhound and his biographer. And they weren't really mystery stories as much as they were adventure stories, so I didn't enjoy that aspect of reading a mystery when I try to figure out whodunnit.
Anyway, I enjoyed the first Robert Downing Jr movie mostly because of Irene Adler but since she was [Spoiler (click to open)]killed off in the prologue of the second movie, I couldn't get into the second movie. I watched 6 minutes of BBC Sherlock and switched off. Ah, 2 white dudes and their epic bromance. Yeah, I think I've seen enough of those shows to last me a lifetime.
So Elementary is pretty much a breath of fresh air for me, and then some.
