Twilight makes $70,5 million on opening weekend.
It has not only beat Quantum of Solace and last year's Transformers, it's the 29th best opening weekend in history and the best opening weekend for a female director. If - or maybe when - Twilight grosses more than $187million domestic, it will make Catherine Hardwick the first female live action American director to crack the top 100 grossing movies of all time.
Needless to say, the sequel has been green-lighted.
